6th Annual Clean the Dream

Risers 4 Rett will be partnering with fly fishing guide Landon Mayer to support the Clean the Dream event on August 21st. Join us to make a difference and clean up the nature we enjoy so much.

Origin and idea behind:

Clean the dream was started by Brandon Kramer & Landon Mayer in 2015, who were bothered by all the trash left behind by outdoor enthusiasts, which is hazardous for animals and unsightly for everyone. They felt the need to make a difference and at the same time provide community support and education on how to protect these resources for the next generation. After they got approval from Colorado Parks & Wildlife, they rallied volunteers to clean up the area around the three-mile long section of the South Platte River, also known as "the Dream Stream”, which is at the Charlie Meyers State Wildlife Area. In 2019 a total of 765 pounds of trash was collected by 125 volunteers. Now during COVID-19 there has been a 200% increase in outdoor activity, so more trash is to be expected. This event is even more important now!

Time: Saturday, August 21st 2021 from 8 AM to about 2 PM

Location: "The Dream Stream" is the three-mile long Colorado tailwater section of the South Platte River, which is close to the Charlie Meyers State Wildlife Area, about 2 hours 20 minutes from Denver. We’ll start at the Bridge Parking Lot next to County Rd 59, with access to the Charlie Meyers State Wildlife Area.

Please let us know that you are coming by registering - click button below. We ask everyone for a $15 donation to this event.

CAMPING

Additionally, we reserved three camping spots (spot 133, 134, and 135) at Eleven Mile State Park and are happy to have you join us! Each site can accommodate two tents with the option for a trailer. The costs of camping will be handled when you come.

What’s going to happen:

We’ll start with an 8am breakfast (donuts!). Everybody needs to fill out a waiver and then gets a map. Trash bags & tools will be provided. Volunteers will be split up and directed to different areas. After spending a few hours collecting trash, we’ll meet back at the parking lot. Every person who comes back with a full trash bag will get a raffle ticket. Top notch fishing outdoor companies have donated goodies to support this event and you can get awarded for your volunteer time! This is a perfect family-friendly and COVID-friendly volunteer event!

Special Covid-19 considerations:

Mask are a requirement and since people will spread out over a vast area social distancing should not be a problem. We’ll expect everyone to keep the mandatory 5 feet distance during breakfast & lunch.
